In the year 2000, we introduced an exclusive limited edition of Heidi from the classic book by Johanna Spyri of life in the Swiss Alps. Heidi was featured on the cover of DOLLS magazine and was acclaimed as one of the most captivating child dolls of the year.
Made as an exclusive edition for RJW Retailer LITTLE SWITZERLAND DOLLS in Huntington, New York, Heidi stands 17" tall and is fully jointed and constructed of the finest all wool felt. She has a hand-knotted wig made of the finest custom-dyed mohair and her sculptural felt hands are among the first sewn with individual fingers. Heidi's sweet molded felt face has delicately hand painted features including striated eyes.
Heidi's charming costume includes a felt skirt and a muslin peasant blouse. Her felt weskit is hand embroidered in black thread in a leaf vine pattern. Cotton undergarments, custom-knit wool stockings, and rugged hand-cobbled leather boots complete her period ensemble. As a final perfect touch, a wreath of handmade felt flowers encircles her head.
In her arms, Heidi gently holds "Snowflake" - a baby goat made of fine mohair plush. Snowflake measures 6" and has felt hooves and hornbuds, a jointed neck, and glass eyes. Around Snowflake's neck is a leather collar with a custom-made brass bell.
Heidi was produced in a limited edition of 500 pieces which sold out quickly. She came enclosed with Snowflake in a deluxe presentation box with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity and the forms for owner registration.
